What should I read as a newbie to books and Kindle?

I’m trying to be a serious reader for the first time in years and could really use some recommendations! The last book I read was when I was 12—Paul Jennings novels were my go-to back then. Lately, I’ve started books but haven’t managed to finish them.

My favorite movies—The Giver and The 5th Wave—got me into the idea of reading again. I even bought the Harry Potter set but haven’t cracked it open yet. I’ve been reading It’s Not You by Dr. Ramani, and I just got my first Kindle (a Basic Matcha one—loving it so far!).

I’ve purchased The Hunger Games to start with, but I’d love some more suggestions. I’m into forbidden romance, enemies-to-lovers tropes, reincarnation romances (like Japanese isekai), and I’m curious about manga since I’ve never tried it.

Any recommendations for someone trying to rediscover the joy of reading?

There's the Empyrean Saga by Rebecca Yarros, The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, The Maze Runner, Ender's Game, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
