Amazon is discounting the Kindle Paperwhite Kids bundle to $139, which is $40 off its regular price and $20 cheaper than the standard Kindle Paperwhite—even though both are functionally identical. The Kids version actually offers better value, including:
• The same 16GB Kindle Paperwhite
• A free cover
• A 2-year worry-free warranty (vs. 1 year on the regular version)
• An optional 6-month Amazon Kids+ subscription (instead of 3 months of Kindle Unlimited)
Amazon is also offering the Kids Essentials bundle—which includes a 9W wall charger—for $159.98.
Oddly, only the Kids bundles are on sale, despite being the better deal. All Kindle models can switch between Kids and regular modes, so there’s no real difference—except the Kids mode removes lockscreen ads for free, a perk regular users would otherwise have to pay $20 for.
Bottom line: Skip the regular Paperwhite and buy the Kids bundle for the same Kindle, more perks, and a lower price.
