Overdrive’s Libby App Faces Rare Outage Amid Holiday Season

Overdrive, the company behind the popular Libby app for borrowing library e-books and audiobooks, experienced a rare outage over the past two days. Users reported being unable to view e-book cover images or listen to borrowed audiobooks on Libby, Sora, and other Overdrive platforms. The company acknowledged the issue on their Status Page, attributing it to technical difficulties impacting multiple services.

The audiobook playback issue has since been resolved, but the delay in addressing it might be attributed to reduced staffing during the holiday season. Operations are expected to return to normal as teams resume work after the New Year.
