ONYX BOOX Software Update 4.0 – April 2025

Onyx has begun rolling out its new 4.0 software update for a wide range of Boox eReaders and eNotes, enhancing UI design, user experience, and adding new features across the system, Library, NeoReader, and Notes apps.


Eligible Devices Include:

• Go Series: Go 10.3, Go Color 7, Go 6
• Note Series: Note Max, Note Air4 C, Air3, Air3 C, Air2 Plus, Air2, Note 5
• Tab Series: Tab X, Tab Ultra, Tab Ultra C, Tab Ultra C Pro, Tab Mini C
• Others: Page, Poke4 Lite, Poke5, Poke5 Lite, Palma 2, Palma, Nova Air2, Nova Air C, Max Lumi 2, Leaf2


The update is being released in batches, so it may not be immediately available on all devices. Manual update downloads from the website are no longer supported.


Key System and UI Changes

• Refined, more unified user interface
• Improved touch feedback and interaction clarity
• New setting: toggle full refresh when returning to the home screen


Library and NeoReader Enhancements

• Customizable top toolbar in the Library
• Added quick view switch button
• New customizable reading themes for reflowable documents
• Reading progress badge added; progress bar removed
• Background OCR processing during PDF reading
• Independent font settings for titles, body, and supplementary text
• Word lookup and translation priorities now adjustable
• Improved support for traditional and Japanese characters
• Refresh button moved to a more accessible menu level
• Adjusted Google Drive permissions


Notes App Upgrades (for supported models)

• Import various file types (PDF, EPUB, JPG, etc.) into notebooks with working hyperlinks
• Enhanced page-adding experience
• Clearer highlighting with optimized marker layering
• Canvas resizing via margin dragging
• Stroke eraser width improvements
• New notebook view switch button
• Added 18 adjustable new shapes (e.g., pyramids, parallelograms)
• New Outline feature with 5 navigation levels for large notebooks
• Page limit removed (note: performance may decrease with large notebooks)


Other Improvements

• Bug fixes and overall system stability improvements
