E-Reader for a First-Time Buyer: Eye Strain Concerns?

I’m thinking about getting my first e-reader since I read often, and my library’s online book rental program is compatible with many models. It seems like a great fit for me, but I’m a bit worried about eye strain.

I’ve read a lot about front-light and e-ink technology, but there’s so much conflicting information. If you use an e-reader, how has it impacted your eye strain compared to reading physical books? Have you noticed a difference, especially when reading before bed?
