Best Large E-Reader for Intensive PDF Note-Taking: Onyx Boox Tab vs. Remarkable Pro?

I am an engineer and looking for a reliable e-reader for heavy PDF note-taking—highlighting, annotating, etc. My old Samsung tablet with a stylus isn’t cutting it anymore, and it’s hard on my eyes. I need a large, eye-friendly e-reader (at least 10”) that handles big PDFs smoothly without lag. I’ve been looking at the Onyx Boox Tab and Remarkable Pro. The main things I’m after are good pen performance, smooth PDF handling, and minimal eye strain. Color would be nice but isn’t a deal-breaker.

With Black Friday coming up, I’d appreciate any thoughts on these two or suggestions for other options.

For heavy PDF note-taking, the Onyx Boox Tab is the better option. It has a larger screen (13.3 inches), handles PDFs smoothly, and offers great stylus performance. You can also install apps for added flexibility.

The Remarkable Pro is more focused on writing and sketching with a paper-like feel but is more limited in PDF handling and app options.

If PDF handling and annotation are your priorities, go with the Boox Tab. If you want a simpler, distraction-free experience, the Remarkable Pro could be a good fit.

Hi. I have recently purchased a Boox tab ultra Pro C for reading and taking notes and is the best thing I've done. Very versatile. You can read a text and simultaneously take notes on split screen.
I haven't tried Remarkable dough
