The Amazon Kindle Scribe, Amazon’s e-notebook, was developed to compete with brands like Remarkable and Kobo. Amazon has actively supported the Scribe with regular firmware updates, and with the upcoming release of the Scribe 2, many first-gen users are contemplating an upgrade. However, Amazon has confirmed that the Scribe 1 will receive many of the Scribe 2’s key features.
New features include “Active Canvas,” which allows users to write directly in ebooks with annotations that adjust around the book text. Another feature, “Extended Margin,” lets users write notes in a side panel that can be hidden or shown. Additionally, an AI-powered tool will summarize handwritten notes into shareable bullet points. These features will roll out to Scribe 1 users in early 2025 but will be available on the Scribe 2 from launch.
