10.3 color or 13.3 b&w e-reader under $400, striking out with used Boox Note Air 4C/3C - anything else I should try?

I have an OG Boox Note Air. It's done right by me but I've been considering upgrading to a color reader for comics and manga, and hopefully also a little better performance. I also have been eyeing 13.3" readers - they're way easier to read sheet music. I was hoping to buy secondhand but it's pretty darn tough to get an Air 4C or 3C for below $400ish including shipping on Ebay or elsewhere. Anything above that and I can live without color until it drops down a bit more.

Are there any recommendable 10.3" color or 13.3" b&w readers that can be had for the $400 max range? A bunch of folks have had pretty negative experiences with the Bigme 1051C and it's too expensive anyway, and I can't quite parse what the rest of their 10.3 color readers are with their naming convention. Remarkable doesn't really work for my needs, Pocketbook is also way over budget. I haven't dug too deeply into 13" yet so I'm open to suggestions on that front.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I think you have already found a device for your budget - Boox Note Air4 C. It has colors, it's 10.3", but not sure if that's big enough for sheet music. Also, on Amazon it's over $400. I don't own it, but based on what I've read and watched about it, it is a great e-ink tablet.

For sheet music, Boox Note Max is definitely better, but it comes with a price. I'm not sure how much secondhand would be. If you don't like reMarkable, this is the tablet for you.

So it all comes down to a preference. One tablet for all - there should be a compromise (color or price). For comics, manga, reading - go with Note Air4 C, for reading sheet music, go with Note Max (or even iPad Air 13", if you don't mind it's not e-ink screen).

I'm in pretty much the same boat. If you find a place to find a reliable reused/refurbished Note Air C or similar, please share.
